Toys Encouraging Alcohol Use By Children
Several alcohol company web sites allow anyone who types in a birthday indicating they are over 21 to play games and download drinking paraphernalia for their computers. There's no proof needed to be verified as an adult, although the technology to do so is simple and inexpensive (visit any porn site for an example). Here are screen shots from a Budweiser racing game and baseball game. Interestingly enough, the Bud racing game is called "Trading Paint." I guess that grinding cars together at high speed is a natural result of drinking Bud.
Not to be left out of the act, here's a shot of the Smirnoff racing game.
And although they do not offer a game (thank goodness!)Mike's Hard Lemonade lets anyone who says they are 21 download goodies like this movie viewer frame.
An on-line role playing game now has created alcohol monsters children can fight, then "drink" up their remains for bonuses. Horizons http://www.istaria.com has introduced a "Vodka Elemental" and a "Tequila Elemental" as non-player character monsters children will face in their role-playing game. As "loot", these monsters drop bottle caps named with alcohol brands after fictional locations in the game. Some examples of the prizes are: "Stout Bottle Cap", "Vulriaku Dark Rum Bottle Cap", or "Glimmel Lake Ginger Beer Bottle Cap." Using these bottle caps has a beneficial effect--it cuts an eight-hour penalty (incurred when your character dies and respawns) down to four hours. What's the catch? A 50% reduction in your character's dexterity statistic (used to determine your character's agility and accuracy in combat) for five whole minutes. Remember, this game is rated for TEENS - not MATURE.
